I can remember my Chemistry teacher at my high school handing me a sheet on a Dietetic career choice, at the time I set it aside and never thought about it again until my second year in college. I was deciding on a major and Dietetics seemed to be the one that made sense. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Cincinnati in 1990. I completed a dietetic internship from the Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, June of 1992 and received the Sister Romuald Award.
My first position as a Dietitian was at St. Luke Hospital East and West in the Cardiac Rehabilitation center where I counseled patients with Cardiac Disease and patients on the liquid diet program. I found myself doing community nutrition education even in the beginning of my career. My second position was working for a Long term Care Consulting Company providing medical nutrition assessments for the geriatric population.
After two years, I decided to have children and then developed a company called Nutrition Perspectives which focused on the Home Care market of Healthcare. I loved this job because I learned a lot about what my clients were eating since I was in their homes counseling. At this time I was awarded the Young Dietitian of Ohio award and knew I was in the right field. I also was a consultant for the Jewish Hospital’s Weight Management Program off and on for about 7 years counseling clients in weight management and in the diabetes program.
In 2005, I received a Certification in Adult Weight Management to specialize my dietetic role even further. I also worked with Seven Hills Women’s Health Centers for 2 years doing metabolic testing and nutrition counseling in their Cincinnati offices. From my constant contact with women, I decided men needed help too, as well as children and decided to start my own business. Personal NEWtrition LLC was created so that I can give everyone the personal attention they need for nutrition and weight management.

My life dream has come true! I love being able to create new programs which positively change clients lives. Our country needs help with the high occurrence of obesity, which leads to diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. I think my journey has come full circle and I am changing peoples lives each chance I get. I focus on every positive step people make in their lives! As I always say, “eating healthy can be simple, it takes practice and work to do it daily, and to make it a habit.”
